Vacant space in the building at the Old Town Hall Old Town Square in Prague is already more than 50 years precedent perception of urban spaces and their formation in the country. More than 100 years then there is the idea of been struck a new order in cities and their surroundings in the form of complete destruction of the old and new construction, as was the redevelopment of Joseph and the Old Town. It also fixes the form of historical, often of poor quality buildings and prevents the development of a dynamic and Czech sites. In this environment incomprehensible contradictions absolute destruction and preservation fanatical, refusing new quality and unquestioning protection of old faults, comes eight races, which have solved the problem of the Old Town Square. Nothing of the sort happened, of course. On the contrary, competition its relatively low quality of not only many proposals, but often jurors, and encouraged the public that architects can not even trust the planning of settlements, or the planning of buildings in the historic center.              The failure of eight competitions conducted the whole issue of the twentieth century and brought it to the threshold of the information age. So why architecture has lost the confidence of the audience? It was and it is even possible to find a final and permanent form for completion this? And what other sites may find the concept of development or stagnation at a time when so fundamentally changes the perception of the world? These, and related questions are answered in this work.
